Biotechnology Lead Executive has the following key roles and responsibilities:

• Molecular Diagnostics: conduct real time and Conventional PCR using more than 20 protocols to detect various transboundary animal diseases and disease of public health importance, samples could be for the purpose of outbreak investigation, surveillance, research and antimicrobial resistant pathogen detection. Molecular testes are conducted as per the requirement of ISO 17025 -2017 standards, and 3 of the test protocols are accredited.
• Genomic Analysis: Pathogen’s sequencing provides critical insights into their identification, evolution, transmission, drug resistance, and outbreak dynamics. This information is invaluable for disease diagnosis, surveillance, control, and the development of effective treatments and preventive measures.  Our sequencing laboratory performs genetic and genomic analyses using advanced molecular techniques, such as genome quality control, library preparation, sequencing, gene mapping, and genotyping.
• Bioinformatics: With the increasing availability of genomic data, bioinformatician use various bioinformatics tools and computational approaches to analyze and interpret large-scale genomic datasets. This includes genome assembly, annotation, comparative genomics, and data mining.
• Research and Development: Engage in research projects aimed at advancing our understanding of molecular and genomic biology, design experiments, collect data and analyze results, and contribute knowledge to the scientific community.
• Quality Control and Assurance: Ensures the quality and reliability of laboratory procedures and results. We follow standard operating procedures, perform quality control tests, and maintain accurate records to ensure data integrity.
• Collaboration and Training: Collaborates with other institutions to develop and implement interdisciplinary research projects. The lab also provide training to the National and subnational/regional laboratory personnel on various molecular biology techniques.
