• Referral services
  • AHI is a national reference laboratory to provide referral services for RVLs, universities and research institutes/centers in the country.
  • AHI is designated as regional support laboratory for trans-boundary animal diseases and specifically selected to provide a referral service for the testing of Avian Influenza and Newcastle diseases in the Eastern Africa Region.

Testing services

• AHI provides testing services for live animal export/import, dairy farms, poultry farms, genetic improvement institutions/centers, and livestock ranches. These services are provided by accredited laboratories for ISO17025 standards.
• AHI testing services for research institutions, universities, and individuals who work on research.

Training and consultancy services

Training

• AHI organize comprehensive training programs for international trainees on test methods/protocols, quality management systems (QMS), biorisk management, and other disciplines.
• AHI provides training for nationals such as researchers, veterinary diagnosticians, laboratory personnel, extension workers, farmers, and university students.

Advisory/consultancy services

• AHI provides professional advice and guidance on various aspects, including disease management, control, and biosecurity. These services are particularly valuable for emerging poultry and dairy farms, where the AHI assists in developing effective strategies and practices to ensure the effectiveness of the national Lemat Trufat initiative.

Educational visit

• AHI facilitates educational visits for researchers and students from universities and research institutes. These visits provide valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and hands-on learning in the field of animal health. By fostering these educational experiences, the AHI contributes to the growth and development of new generation of professionals in the industry.
